Michael Houghton has been working in Photography of all genre, for over 25 years. Located in Downtown Columbus, Ohio since 1983, he focuses on architectural, interior design and fashion photography, oriented towards the hair and make-up industry, as well as photo journalism and environmental portraits.
Michael's specialty 'developed' over the years as, Architectural and Interior Design Photography. However his professional and environmental portraiture and journalism are in use State wide and Nationally, he has shot catalog as well as retail interior for Microsoft and Bugle Boy and in the last couple of years the portfolio has grown to include hair and makeup fashion images for Paul Mitchell, Michael Farrell, and PHIA Salon. This work is providing the space for some ground breaking techniques for the studio that involves time based imaging as well as still. As well, Michael's personal work of the American West is ongoing with a book in the offing.
Michael began shooting for the 'New York Times' as a stringer 6 years ago and now, also works for the 'Ohio Farm Bureau' and 'Ohio Magazine' as well and is also shooting assignments for 'House Trends Magazine'.
Michael began teaching for Columbus College of Art and Design in 1998 and continues teaching in an Adjunct capacity. He teaches Architectural Photography and courses in Basic Introduction to Photography/film based, as well as, Digital Imaging basics and Studio/Still life imaging.
Michael plans on continuing to shoot and image for the commercial world as well as what he sees as interesting, vital simple and complex packaged in his own consciousness of the waking world.
